OHHHH Liz…
If you know Liz – there is really no explanation necessary. If you don’t know Liz, you should probably get to know her. Liz is one of my favorite people from college and was also my room mate for 2.5 years. We keep in touch often via skype and every time her pretty little face pops up on my screen she is wearing a glittering tiara, holding an almost empty glass of wine and probably has a fairy princess wand in the other… Last time it was, “hello Maddie”, with a smile from ear to ear…. “can you make me a style profile? let’s call it recession chic. I am going broke…” I loved Liz’s idea because I’m sure it’s an issue we all deal with– wanting to have beautiful, stylish clothing without spending a fortune. which brings me to another quirk of Liz’s… (Other than her obsesession with Britney Spears and the known fact that she wore a top hat to her “circus” concert” yeah…
Liz’s other quirk …. Liz has a … slight … tendency to spend money. Well, lots of it. I mean, loooottttsss of it. It’s a good thing Liz is almost through with law school (YOU GO GIRL!), because woahh nelly does she have expensive taste. I want to teach beautiful Liz that she can look stylish and not tacky or cheaply dressed without spending a crap load of money. Now, there are a few staple items that I think are o.k. to spend a little bit more on because they’ll be repeat items. These items include blazers, simple black pencil skirts, versatile heels, etc. LIZ- SUNGLASSES ARE NOT INCLUDED IN THIS CATEGORY, NOR ARE CLUTCHES AND BAGS. got it? (I know Liz already has quite a hefty collection of <caugh> not so cheap bags and sunglasses.
Now, I want to share something important with you all. To be honest, I’m slightly worried that this post can take a dramatically, horrible turn. AKA I’m pretty afraid that Liz might choose to go crazy and buy the heavily priced, “do not buy, because theses are terribly overpriced” items. Liz. I’m on to you. Don’t do it. Don’t. Boyfriend Ryan and Father Gary will also be very angry with me if that happens. Now, Liz, take a gander at these ensembles and be amazed at how elegant and sassy you can look for a fraction of the price. Likey? Do comment.
