My post today is MIA… until now. I realize that. I have the lovely task ahead of me, which is this. Packing for a camping trip. I will be camping this weekend with some of my wonderful friends. I type this to you as I watch a news update on hurricane Danny. Oh, really?
I know I am being dramatic about this, but how can I be done packing? There is NO makeup in my bag, there is NO perfume, or any sort of garment that attaches at the waist and exists not of two separate pant legs. aka dresses. I am just confused. My clothing pile consist of Jordan’s lacrosse shorts, his shrunken tee shirts, and… well.. sneakers. Tres chic. I am not a shorts kinda gal, so I don’t have any of my own. All of the tops I own either require a strapless bra, or require dry cleaning… and all of my shoes have these things on them referred to as heels, wedges, and or platforms. Uhhh.
I’m really not high maintenance, I just feel confused and lost. I did 8 weeks of sleepaway camp for six summers. We lived in bunks. I know how to rough it. Ohhh Who am I kidding– we would have regular power outages thanks to hair iron overload. But no, really, I am not high maintenance. I just need to get in the right mindset …and complain a little bit. I need to prepare for a real roughing it sorta situation, and I need to leave behind any thoughts of glamor, sparkle, shine, nail polish, swanky dresses, shoes without flat rubber soles, accessories… ohhh. Maddie.
Canoes, tents, bugs, hurricanes… it shouldn’t be that bad.
I will report from the site if possible. If not. Have a wonderful weekend. And just so you know, I actually am really looking forward to this trip. I know it’s gunna be great. because there will be s’mores there. Plus, I can pack my new rain boots, which is a plus.
