before and after

OK so maybe it’s not as cool as the swing post (jeeze you people ate that one up)… but it’s the project that I was working on in the kitchen whilst Jordan was being all technical about knot tying in the other room with the swings.

You see, above our sink is a big, white, plain, spot, which I had come to despise. It blankly stared at me while I washed the dishes and filled pots with water and only two days ago did I have the brilliant thought that I could fill it with something nice! Tiling it would take too much time and money. I wanted a quick, fun fix. Why did I know that white spray paint would be involved.

As I thought about what I might want in this spot, the antique store demons took over my entire being and before I knew it, I was walking into one of my favorite antique spots, Stratford Antique.

(side note. I find it necessary to tell you that across the parking lot from the Stratford warehouse is the back side of a motel… basically the little balcony areas. If the balconies were gridded out, then A2 is the one I’m talking about (seriously, in case you ever go). She is the cat woman of all cat women. At all times she has at least 15 cats running around and every single time I have been there (which is almost once a week- so maybe I’M the one with the problem), she is feeding all of these cats some strange concoction and they are like climbing all over her.) no offense to all of you crazy cat lovers. **COUGH**debra**COUGH**
Back to the story.

I walked around the warehouse for at least 2 hours and ended up buying something that I have always wanted but Jordan always said no to. SCORE! I had waited long enough that he forgot about it. It was what is called a Regency Eagle Gilt Wood Convex Mirror. yeah. Mine was a replica, but learn more about those puppies here. The real ones can be worth some serious loot. I had seen one on The Selby a while back and needed one in my home ever since. The one I picked up was plastic and fakely antiqued. Perfect for not feeling guilty about drenching it in spray paint.

I paid for it and took it in my arms. Passed the kitty cat lady. got in my car. was very happy.

As soon as I got home I went to spray paint it and found that my white spray paint can was empty. boo. This is why I was working on it during swing making time… at Home Depot that day I helped myself to a new can of spray paint. (totally unnecessary detail, but I don’t want you to find holes in my story).

Ok so here you go.
