how to make breakfast a funfeast

a few weeks ago we went to Dish Supper Club, in Black Rock, for brunch and it was outstanding. We had been there many times, but I had never tried the “eggs in a basket”. My life changed that day as I ate the cutest, most tasty breakfast I had ever eaten.

So last Saturday a bunch of our friends joined us for a Burlesque, yes, Burlesque show here in downtown Bridgeport at Two Boots. The next morning we needed a major brunch session. So, upon returning to Dish Supper Club with a gaggle of friends, it dawned upon me that I could try to make this beautiful masterpiece myself (and so I ordered it again not only to experience a buttery heaven of toast and eggs, but also to study it with plans of copying when I got home).

The Verdict: Theirs gets an A++ for taste, while I am going to give myself an E for effort. I tried a few versions. For the circle cut out I used the top of a champagne glass, and then for the little shapes I used my trusty cookie cutters (as per Jordan’s request). While I can’t deny that mine were quite beautiful, I will continue to prefer theirs.
