this happened in my kitchen

Since forever, like for as long as I can remember.. I have been 100% repulsed by anything that included, resembled, or implied squished fruit. Fruit is perfect as is, and should not be ground, mushed, pressed, or squeezed into any form other than its original. Smoothies = vomit. I repeat, vomit. Only ONE other person agrees with me on this topic and it’s my girl, Anastasia (holler, Ana!)

I slowly came to realize, in my 27th year of life.. aka, this past week, that if I, myself, am the squisher of fruit.. then it’s ok. Meaning, if you make me a smoothie, I will politely decline.. if I make myself a smoothie, all systems a go. (btw, blended veggies are totally fine by me.. Any stranger can make me a kale, spinach, cucumber smoothie and I will accept it with delight).

It happened like this… I was making myself a green morning smoothie and it just needed something else. It was lacking a certain sweetness that my inner angel said could NOT be hot chocolate powder, also known as pure sugar. I looked and searched and scoured my cabinets and fridge until I came eye to eye with… strawberries. No. There’s no way. That’s gross… said my mind as my hands lifted the berries from their shelf into the sink for some washing. I can’t believe this is happening, said my past-self, as my present (and future self) dumped them into the smoothie concoction I had been working on.

It all happened so fast and before I knew it, was watching the strawberries blend themselves and become one with the green drink. I was ok with it. It worked for me. And that’s when it dawned upon me.. that I was ok with this so long as I was the doer. Like so many other things in my type-A life..

So, my friends, now I have to share with you this amazing smoothie that I designed to power your through the first third of your day. It will leave you feeling full, satisfied, happy, and healthy. It was amazingly delicious and did, indeed, change my life.

As for amounts.. eek. sorry. I kind of eye balled it..
