I was in another world this past weekend. And that world was South Beach – Miami. It was a world filled with lush, white, glitzy, glam, delicious, sunny, funny, expensive, relaxing, clear, beauty… and a vibe in the air that I cannot even properly translate to you without doing it a disservice.
There is an ever-present, thumping base , from this party or that… beautiful bodies galore… tiny bikinis and banana hammocks a plenty, overflowing pitchers of sangria and dirty martinis to last you for days…. Relaxing to the extreme, and dancing ’til the sun rises… drool worthy roof tops, dreamy boutique hotels, glitzy window shopping, loudly striped sidewalks beneath tables overflowing with tasty bites of this and that…
Everything is sexy, everyone is sexy… even the landscaping and furnishings are sexy… clear pianos and tremendous, white billowing curtains… enormous, gold, tufted chairs, crocheted hammocks with swooping scallop details hang from glossy, white tree bases. Every hotel and club so effectively transformed their space that you felt as if each was its own story with its own rules and characters, smells, tastes and sounds.
It was incredible. And to top it off, I was with a SPECTACULAR group of girls celebrating my dear Marcella’s bachelorette–ness. Thanks to one of the gals, Conley, we stayed at the incredible Gale South Beach, spent a day cruising on our own boat.. (eh hem, with a captain), and enjoyed unforgettable meals. I am not at liberty to share any secrets, but do know that we laughed for 5 days straight… and Marcella, the bride-to-be, had a GRAND time. Amy, Laurie, Stina, and Lauren were the other fab partners in crime. xoxo to all.
Dear Miami, we shall return.
