the midas touch… a branch’s tale

11 ▪ 12 ▪ 09

I was setting up for Halloween and had this idea to get a branch and glue black leaves on it. Don’t ask. In my head it was like, the coolest thing ever..

Jordo and I took a stroll down the street, entered some forbidden property surrounding an old abandoned warehouse that probably has squatters and other scary things, quickly claimed the ideal branch, and then booked.

My branch decor was satisfactory, as I planted it in a big, galvanized pail, glued these black, sparkly leaves on all over, and then placed it in the center of our table. When Halloween passed, however, the branch was no longer relevant… it looked sad and stupid and I took it down… I wasn’t able to get myself to throw it away and for some reason felt attached to it. Like- I pulled it out of it’s original home… I couldn’t go and throw it away now… that’s like killing it twice.

This morning I decided that this branch’s mission in life was to be painted white and used as an accent somewhere in my home. So that’s what I will do. I know you think I’m weird and crazy and I don’t have a life, but I assure you that the painting of this branch is important and will make me a happy girl. It will find a nice spot in my home and it will be happy forever. So, my friends here are some visuals so you know what I am talking about!

OK wait. hold up. This branch is not going to get painted white.. I just decided it will be spray painted gold! SO MUCH BETTER, right?! Ok going outside. be back in a few. Stay tuned. I know… the suspense is KILLING YOU.

Just went outside and sprayed a branch gold. I think it’s going to be a ravishing look, however it will most likely end up in my office… with the rest of the stuff Jordan doesn’t approve of… (tutus fashioned as giant faux flowers in vintage vases, antique vanities, etc…)

Waiting for it to dry and then I’ll bring it back in and secretly capture Jordan’s reaction.

The tiniest thing can make a gal so happy. Well, maybe I’m the only one that gets excited by a gold branch, but it is fun and will add flair to the look in here– Plus we have super high ceilings, so any way to add height within our decor is a bonus.

Just checked on it and it’s lookin’ really good, my beautiful friends.

Ok. I brought the lumber in and Jordan, surprisingly, really likes it. SCORE. Oh- and Mimi– she said it was wonderful and fabulous and agreed to a photo op… as you will see.

I’m ending this post now. Enough about branches … white or gold. Just know that you can find things outside and use them for many different things in the home. I spent zero dollars on this project. Well, that’s a lie. I spent $3 on the leaves and had already owned the spray paint. Ok I’m really ending this post now.

Peace out, Lovelies.
