How do we feel about them? Open-toed boots, that is?! Now… this is a totally new concept to me (you too, right?)…

I often scroll, and scroll, and scroll down the pages of delicious clothing on Net-A-Porter only to discover things that will never actually be owned by me in places other than my pathetic, little, dreams. Today I was doing just that, when suddenly I stumbled upon this interesting situation of open toed boots.

Yes, of course, we are all familiar with open toed sandals and peep toed pumps.. but OH MY.. what is this new discovery? As tall and boot-like as they are, they have a surprising familiarity to the gladiator look for some reason. They’re not strappy nor are they embellished with metal studs, but still they yell out, “I am the GLADIATOR of 2010”. This time more simple, more strange and more streamlined. I’m digging them. I am loving the thought of these paired with some blousy, bubbly, shorts and a printed tank, or even a boldly patterned sun dress. yummeroo. (I know we’re not even through the thick of winter, but a gal is allowed to dream, right?!)

I thought I hated these strange, toe-exposing shoes, and then I realized that their extreme ugliness swung them around full circle, back into the category of cool. (That happens a lot in my mind)… and now I find myself really, really wanting these peek-a-boo boots. Like, a lot. It will probably be at least 6 months until a trickled down, somewhat uglier, less chic, not-so-cool version is created in Aldo, Steve Madden or (GASP), Bakers. (just kidding I’ve purchased countless shoes there.. shhhh)… so until then I will keep dreaming.
