I usually try on 4-6 outfits before I leave my house every day. It takes me about 35 minutes… you do the math. It’s like a huge fraction of my life, which is so pathetic.
I do believe that your day officially begins when you swing those closet doors open. You can chose to make or break it. In so many ways it all comes down to comfort… physical & emotional. You can chose to wear something that is going to make you feel stylish and comfortable all day –aka, the pair of pants that actually fits well, tucked in blouse that does wonders for your complexion… or you can settle for an outfit out of habit.. the dress that you love, but you can’t move your arms in (why do I have SO many of those?!), those horrendous tights that make a habit of sliding down all day, and that default pair of pumps that you can’t walk in for shit… but they go with everything so you do it anyways… Why do we do that to ourselves? Pick something that matches all 3 of the following.
- comfort (will I experience chafe-age in any areas of my bod?)
- varied (color blocking is fun, but try to get some pattern in there)
- new and exciting (just do it! throw on the shirt you’ve been too scurred to don.. what are you so afraid of?!)
Usually when my getup meets each of those requirements I walk around comfortably, feel happier, and most like myself.
Since I’m a shor-tay, I could never actually pull something like this off. Too much too close. You tall folks totally luck out– you get to wear it all at once… When you’re 5’1″ like me, and you’ve got curves like woah, you’ve gotta pay attention to pattern cramming. Anyways, that’s not to say I can’t dream. So, here’s to dreaming. Who’s going to wear this? I know many stunning ladies who could pull it off like a shooting star. whatever that means.
