saca and ganesha

what do you get when you cross a green elephant, rosary beads, and a tennis shoe? Apparently– the necklace below, which I named saca (truthfulness), is what I got. I LOVE this necklace so much– it’s hidden, ornate clasp on the side of the rosary bead chain makes it mysterious and unusual… well, it’s already pretty unusual…

The inspiration for this necklace came from my love of elephants, symbolic of wisdom, luck and longevity in certain cultures. During my religion studies program at Muhlenberg College, I became enamored by the beautiful deity, Ganesha, (the ornate elephant headed creature). Also referred to as Ganesh, this popular deity is one of the most widely worshiped figures and is said to be the remover of obstacles. We can all use a little Ganesha in our lives. Here’s your Ganesha fix for the day.
