matchbox stuffing

I am so excited to get a special little something in my mailbox… And it should be coming any day now. “What is it, Madds?”, you may ask. Well, my dearest friends, it’s a stuffed matchbox. It will be full of all sorts of little goodies, tiny enough to fit in a single matchbox. Ok, keep reading before you dismiss this concept of matchbox stuffing.

Allow me to tell you where this matchbox stuffing journey began. So. One day, I was sitting here in my office, being highly productive, as usual, DUH, and I decided to take a gander at my new friend, Anna‘s blog, IWANTTOWEARIT. Follow Anna on Twitter! Anna and I met through a common, and oh-so-dear friend who just totally left us last week and moved to Israel. Thanks, Neil! We met at his fabulous going away party after having exchanged a few emails some months back and we totally hit it off. I do have to credit Neil for hooking us up.

I started frequenting her beautiful, wonderful, interesting writings on fashion and style (yum) and found myself crazily commenting on all of her posts to the point where I cut myself off as not to be perceived as a stalker. Oh and btw, I read tons of sites! I don’t just write up my crazy thoughts here and expect all ya’ll to read them– I am a devoted reader to many other writers! just so you know… Ok so back to Anna and her fab fashion writing… One of her posts, not so much on fashion, and still wonderful, make me giggle… and it was about pen-pall-ing with others via regular mail… but instead of letters you would be sending stuffed matchboxes!

Some of us still get excited to receive a paper envelope with a stamp, return address, and actual contents. I am definitely one of those people. In Anna’s post she requests to know whether someone might be interested in partaking in this activity, to which I replied, “this sounds like the most exciting thing ever. let’s do it.” SO here we are! She and I agreed to allow 2 weeks for the stuffing process … you know, time to find small, interesting things that would bring a smile to the opener’s face. I stuffed that matchbox so full that she might actually have some difficulty opening it. ANNA IF YOU ARE READING THIS SKIP TO THE NEXT PH! Among the contents were a Benadryl, a straightpin, some rosettes, buttons, flower petals and some other really amazing and interesting stuff that just isn’t coming to mind at the moment. Don’t be jealous, guys.

We both mailed out our stuffed matchboxes at exactly the same moment (by accident) last week, and I am hoping to get it tomorrow! (I say that every day)… and when I get that little matchbox it is going to be a beautiful moment.

I failed to take a picture of my matchbox contents before I sent it over, I am so sorry. I am sure that Anna will be so nice as to do that for me and send it our way so you can all witness the beauty and wonder of a stuffed matchbox.

Well, here is a link that I borrowed from Anna’s IWANTTOWEARIT, which she borrowed from Flickr, so all of you beauties could see some matchbox stuffing for yourselves.
