spooktacular window treatments

I don’t know that it’s normal for me to be so into Halloween decor… I’m not so much into the little stuff, but rather, I have this strong urge and desire to transform my home into some sort of gothic, haunted house. I don’t want a cute skeleton centerpiece, I want a real skeleton hanging from my ceiling. I don’t want pumpkin decals on my bathroom mirror, I want a stack of pumpkins, cornstalks and hay all covered in gross spiderwebs at my front door. We don’t get trick or treaters and we are having a super low-key, Halloween get together with our neighbors this year, yet we have found a way to replace all of our living room light bulbs with black lights (99 cents at CVS. not that you care), scatter life-size tombstones around the downstairs, and hang the most real looking fake spiders I have ever seen from antique mirrors and window frames with white thread… so it looks like their spinning a web. get it?… I also scattered fake mice around, which has kind of been grossing me out, but it’s worth it to see peoples’ reactions.

Oh yeah and about those spooctacular window treatments… I spent a considerable amount of time the other evening fashioning some creepy window treatments from construction paper. Seeing as we are on a bit of a budget, fabric was out of the question… I picked up a package of black paper from Wal-Mart and went to town with a Martha Stewart picture for inspiration. shut up. You’ll want to make them too ass soon as your little eyes wander down to my pictures. right? don’t you? no? ok. whatever. (psst if you do, here is the link)

So yeah. Our house is a little weird right now, full of tombstones and spiderwebs, black light and spooktacular valences. Do you think I am the most uncool person right now?
