and then there were two Fridas. Halloween 2011

I had always wanted to be Frida for Halloween. I probably should have just dressed up in my full costume on a rainy day and enjoyed it for myself at home, because nobody knew who I was!!! Or should I say, who WE WERE. That’s right. Jordan, after lengthy debates and multiple visits to the costume shop, decided he would too be Frida. I wasn’t thrilled at the idea, but I figured I’d share my costume concept, and so it went.

The two of us laden in thick red lipstick and floral headdresses paraded downtown to our Halloween party, which was essentially snowed out by the single blizzard that happened last year. The result: Jordan and me as Frida with some close and local (and some not so local) friends in tow. It made for a fun night and I enjoyed every single glance in the mirror that I was able to steal. I wouldn’t be lying if I told you I still wear the headdress whilst sitting at my desk in search of creative inspiration. There’s something about it that makes me feel weird and special. Just the way I like it. The only downside to my Friday experience: my drawn-on uni-brow refused to give up its prime real estate, that was my face, for at least 2 days. That’s what happens when you draw facial hair on using a waterproof eye liner. Lesson learned.
