When I worked at Anthropologie, there was always the task of creating MOMENTS around the store. Vignettes, or mini-displays, would cause a customer to pause and observe… to feel inspired… to dream. In my home, and ever since I was a little girl, I was always creating these moments. Maybe not as elaborate as those we built and configured at Anthropologie, but certainly heartfelt and warm. I observe guests pausing and taking them in. I love that each one kind of tells a story.
I took a stroll around my home to see what moments I could bring to you. These are simple and sweet and make my heart feel ooey gooey.
I love having old family photos and especially childhood pictures around the house. It always makes for good conversation and serious LOL. Recently, my friends had a (way too long) laugh at the photo of me (do you see it?). Nick’s photo is pretty unbelievable too…We were dying at my hair, posture (what was that?!), and then I spotted the way I (aka def. my mom) placed that little heart necklace on the outside of my collar… so 3 going on 48.
I bought that great plant with moss at Trader Joe’s.. It’s a winter white bulb. Loving the moss and container.. and the price! I love watching it grow a few centimeters every day, knowing that soon it will be in full bloom. Beneath the plant, one of my fave Amy Sedaris books is always on display to remind me that funny and weird is, in fact, cool.
We have a vintage, yellow locker by our door which was supposed to house OUR shoes.. but mostly houses MINE (sorry, J!). Slapped on the locker is a green peace sign, which Jordan forbade me to put on the car (ugh), a pic of my old poodle, Twinkie, a pic of my pre-school best friend, Juliette, who know lives in the Netherlands (Juliette! Where are you?!), and a watercolor that our friend Sarah gave us!
The Whitman’s box is from my childhood bedroom and is bursting with baby quilts and blankets that I’ve had since age ZERO, both collected pieces and also handmade by my BEST Nonni in the world.
Oh and that horse with pom-poms.. I just made that and I <3 it. that’s all! The candles behind it.. YUM. K. hall and Honey Almond YUM!
..Ok, so maybe Meems & Weezy aren’t really a moment, but when I was done taking some pics, I stumbled upon them having a face-off over Mimi’s egg. Eloise pretended to play dumb, but I knew what she was up to.
